Portable Containers Vs Warehouse Storage

This is a common dilemma we work through with clients on a regular basis, should you use a portable container or traditional warehouse storage for your belongings?

Well, it really depends on a few factors because both solutions can be beneficial depending on your needs.

Portable Storage Containers

Storage Containers are large, portable metal units that are delivered to your home where you can load them yourself or have your movers load them for you. They can then be stored on your property, delivered to your new address or transported to a special warehouse or storage facility. They are weatherproof and durable, designed to be stacked for long-term storage and can also double as moving containers.

With our Mobile Attic Storage Containers you can load it at your convenience, and since the Storage Containers are at ground level, you can likely do a lot of the loading yourself.

Right now you may be thinking this is about the coolest invention ever. However, Storage Containers are not for everyone. Since they are delivered to your door you need to have a place to put them- if you live on a busy street or don’t have a driveway, then it may not be possible to use a Storage Container. Plus, city ordinances may restrict such items from sitting in your driveway or using up your parking space.

Depending on the amount of items you’re needing to store (or move), this can be a very cost-effective way to get your items across town. Though, it might not be the best option if you’re looking for a long-term solution and you have a lot of stuff needing to be stored. If you are renting more than one container for three or more months, then warehouse storage will likely be a better fit from a pricing standpoint.

These containers were really designed for the do-it-yourselfers, who plan to load and unload the containers.

Something else to keep in mind, you would assume all liability for the items you load into the container. If we load the items, then we will assume responsibility if any items are damaged, similar with a traditional move using one of our trucks.

Here’s some tips to properly pack a container if you choose this option.

Warehouse Storage

When it comes to warehouse storage, it is the perfect solution for companies and individuals who need long-term, safe storage. We can pack up your belonging at your home, then crate it up and do a personal inventory of the items when we arrive at the warehouse. Having this inventory list can prove invaluable when you do decide to move your belongings out of storage.

This solution is excellent for both homeowners and business owners who need to store things on a temporary or long-term basis. Your things will be packed and pad-wrapped, just as they would for moving, to ensure safe transit between your location and the warehouse, and then back again when you want your belongings returned. Plus, McGuire Moving & Storage takes full liability for any damages to items we pack.

Let’s face it, there’s a reason warehouse storage has been around for 100+ years – it’s a more cost-effective, safe option.

Basically, if you have more than 3 bedrooms worth of belongings and plan to store them for more than 3 months, then this is a better option from a cost standpoint. If your belongings are extremely valuable from financial or sentimental standpoint, then warehouse storage is always your best option.
